The temple was built on order of King Rama V in 1877, and as his "life" than most other temples. Originally the temple was probably the last resting place of the king and the construction began in 1875th But later it waschanged into a temple.

The reclining Buddha is housed in a large wiharn. The open front of the wiharn goes on the road. Right next to the reclining Buddha image space, which is used as a museum. The museum was opened rather recently, in 1990. Right next to the wiharn is a small cemetery, where four are cenotaphspresent. The cenotaphs house the ashes of the first four presidents of the city. According to a rumor that the ashes of the first governor of the city housed in one of the large chedi of Wat Doi Kong Mu, but this can not be supported.

Just behind the wiharn are two staircases leading to the side of Doi Kong Mu is precisely on top of the stairs there are two huge stone lions Shan. For most people, the climb up the stairs is very stressful and therefore half-way there is aViewing platform, which has a standing Buddha himself. This Buddha image looks across the city. For those who do not want to climb to Doi Kong Mu, there is a road to travel.

Next to the stairs are several small monuments worth your time to the end. There is also a small wooden shrine, a small altar and next to the wiharn a large platform that is on an image of a seated Buddha. This image is in a small square Chedi.
