If we do first, the nice, warm people, who at the Inn

have a good time, but actually part of that experience are
with some nice conversations and goodness only in a well-known
previous New England era. You feel you areas a part of
their lives, and that is really in this one-hour, fast food infrequently
Drive-through society in which we live.
The inn that you are on the National Register of Historic Places,

Everything you see here, really beautiful, the prototype for a
elegant Country Inn. As you drive the circular entrance

The Inn at Woodstock Hill offers 22 beautiful rooms. We
recently, the honor of staying in a room with a striking had
charming 20-foot high ceilings, antique and period
Reproduction and king-size four-poster bed. Big
Windows provided wonderful views over the open country and
Down the hill, nice backyard. We later realized that
There were also modern amenities such as cable TV,
Videos, a telephone and computer jack, but none of these
We are very interested. We were strictly interested in this
nothing, which is ultimately all that.
So comfortable was our nap almost forget that we are on our
DinnerReservations downwards, which proved to be a
truly remarkable restaurant. We went to the elegant
red carpet, curved staircase (which was wrapped in tulle,
to do with just the right amount of ivy and floral accents
You feel as if you were royalty floating up to your
Subjects) directly into a charming little dining room with
Candlelight, a fireplace and old world furnishings. This was
The smaller dining room, the long on warmth,
Ambience and an incredibly fine menu. We devoured some
Crab Cakes as good as anything we had in Maryland. The
Caesar salad mixed fresh dark green with a "just right"
Dressing. After finishing some wonderfully warm
homemade bread, then we fell in love with irresistablly
tender and tasty Long Iceland duckling with a brandied
Cranberry glaze. The New York sirloin steak had perhaps a
a little too much pepper, but that was no problem because the
Quality of the steaks rival the best steak restaurants in New
England. For dessert, we sampled a fallen chocolate cake,
we fell for immediately. Not had in recent memory
We tasted such a rich but airy chocolate, with just the right
Amount of raspberry sauce, ultimately to the surface
within seconds because of its incredible taste.
After dinner, we went from some of the food through the experience
the other rooms at the Inn. The main living room hasyet
more stunning antique furniture, a roaring fireplace,

Dining room is like a bigger version of the smaller restaurants
Space, but probably more like an old world hotel
Dining room. Candlelight, soft music, polished silver,
Crystal and fine linen are just a few touches
to complement the superb food.
BeforeRetiring for the evening, we talked for a while with a
Manager, told us about the virtues of the Woodstock area,
also known as part of the "quiet corner" of Connecticut. He,
as well as other Inn personnel are either happy transplants
or lifelong residents. It was touching to hear someone
speak from the heart on the pitch, they have chosen to live,
Instead comment on cookie cutter promotional talk. Like
the leisurely look of the Inn, the staff speaksin a very
relaxed and friendly. You never feel an aura of
Presumption, which may be the case, such a
elegant, historic atmosphere.
We slept so well that night in one of the most comfortable
Beds, which we know. Refreshed the next morning we went
before that unforgettable stairs have more time to

We then rested a little morein our room, hesitatingly signed
made and promised to return soon. Traveling home
Scenic Route 169 - one of the most picturesque drives
New England - gave us some great memories of past
this underrated region, but in our minds, we wanted to turn
around and back to the Inn at Woodstock Hill. Only
Hours after leaving the Inn, we missed it very much, so how
